  • Foothills Adult and Continuing Education Celebrates the Class of 2017

    Graduation exercises were held for Foothills Adult and Continuing Education students on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the EdAdvance Litchfield campus.  Thirty-six students earned their high school credential through one of three pathways:  Adult High School Credit Diploma (29 graduates), National External Diploma Program (4 graduates) and GED (3 graduates).  Foothills also recognized six individuals who recently became naturalized citizens.

    Tracey Lay, Director, School Age Programs & Development Services for EdAdvance, the Regional Education Service Center in western Connecticut was appointed to chair the Board of Directors for the National AfterSchool Association (NAA), after being elected to the board two years ago in a national election. 
  • Care Closet for Homeless Students Opens at Torrington High School

    On June 5th, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. at Torrington High School (THS) there was the grand opening for the Care Closet. The Care Closet is a new resource for youth experiencing homelessness and youth in unstable housing.

    Summer Meals for Kids - The Summer Food Service Program, Food that’s in when school is out!
     
    As soon as school ends, EdAdvance begins hosting USDA Summer Food Service Programs (SFSP) at sites in Torrington and Winsted. Children from all districts, ages 18 and younger, are welcome to join us for breakfast and/or lunch, free of charge. A parent or guardian must accompany each child to the site and the food must be consumed on the premises. 
  • Students Showcase Innovative Challenge Projects & Films at Skills21 Expo Fest

    Skills21 celebrated 15 years of student innovation with over 2,000 Connecticut middle and high school students showcasing their cutting-edge STEM, digital media, and entrepreneurial projects on May 19 - 20, 2017 at Expo Fest (Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut). 

  • Mental Health First Aid Certification Training Offered to Public

    The nationally recognized Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Training certification program will be offered on the evenings of June 6 & 8 at EdAdvance, 4 Mountainview Terrace, Suite 201 in Danbury.  There is no charge for this program and the public is invited to participate.

    Expo Fest is the ultimate challenge project competition experience for high school students engaged in innovative, cutting-edge STEM, new media, and entrepreneurship education programs developed by Skills21 at EdAdvance in collaboration with 44 schools statewide.
