EdAdvance's services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals with disabilities, ages 8 and up, using a person-centered, community based approach. These services help individuals to live, grow, and become more independent and productive members of their communities. Our programs support personal choice, collaboration, innovation, and respect.

Some of the Programs We Offer Are:

Group Homes

Located in Danbury, Newtown, Torrington, and New Hartford, Connecticut, our group homes provide 24-hour supervision for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Group Supported Employment

Group Supported Employment provides supervised work experiences for adults with developmental disabilities. Currently, adults with disabilities work with staff in a mobile lawn crew, maintaining both residential and commerical properties, and are working in a small factory setting.

In Home Supports Program

Our In Home Supports Program provides services to people, ages 8 and up, in their homes, allowing them to maintain an independent living environment within their community. Services include, but are not limited to, advancing life and social skills, providing individualized extracurricular programming, as well as developing and implementing behavior plans. Comprised of two DDS-funded services, Behavioral Supports Program (BSP), serving ages 8-21; and Supported Living, serving ages 21 and up, In Home Supports aspires to provide a caring, supportive environment in which individuals thrive and families grow together.

Individual Day Supports

This program supports adults with developmental disabilities in the community to participate in local community events, volunteering or recreational activities.

Behavioral Supports Program

The Behavioral Supports Program (BSP) also integrates parent support and education. Staff and parents actively participate with their supported family member in community events, volunteer opportunities, and recreational activities.

Individualized Supported Employment Services

Our supported employment services include skills development, needs assessment, résumé and interview support, job development and placement support, on-the-job training, and situational assessments. We assist individuals in acquiring and maintaining integrated employment in the community and provide job-coaching for ongoing training and support.
