Monday 4.15.19

AM Workshop: Slime! — $6 supply fee

Slime time! That’s right; this workshop is all about the gooey, green glob of fun, better known as slime. This workshop teaches students about the ingredients needed to make a good batch of slime. With the help of our instructors, students will learn all about cross-linked polymers as they mix up magnetic & color changing slime.

PM Workshop:  Marble Run  $3 supply fee

Students will learn about acceleration, gravity, energy, speed and motion by creating different tracks with varied slopes, angles and heights made from household items. The ‘cars’ (marbles) of either steel, glass or plastic will then be raced through these structures to test our construction skills.

Tuesday 04.16.19

AM Workshop: Rocket Build and Launch  $5 supply fee

What is a projectile?  How can you launch it?  How far will it go? There are many versions of paper stomp rockets available. They all work essentially the same way: air is forced through a PVC pipe assembly which will launch lightweight paper rockets up into the air. We will create our rockets using a combination of these design ideas and then launch them to measure distance and design.

PM Workshop: Painted Bird Houses & Owl Pellets  $6 supply fee

Fun, educational science. Owl pellet dissection is an easy, hands-on way to learn about the eating habits of birds of prey.  We will find and log all the unique items found inside our pellets.  Piecing together the bones inside owl pellets is interesting and fascinating work! We will also be painting bird houses to create an inviting resting area for our feathered friends this spring.

Wednesday 04.17.19

AM Workshop: Dish Gardens  $11 supply fee

Digging in the dirt is very therapeutic and the sensory benefits are wonderful! Feeling the different textures of the dirt, rocks and plants stimulate brain activity!  Students will be learning about the different elements of their dish garden while planning and creating their own garden to take home.

PM Workshop: Minute to Win it!  $2 supply fee

Minute to win it where “every second counts.”  Based off the exciting international game show, students will be participating in challenges and relay style games that use objects commonly available around the house.  Activities to include cookie face, kix chop stick race, jelly bean divide and balance the beans!

Thursday 04.18.19

AM Workshop: Launch it!  $3 supply fee

Who knew learning could be so much fun?! Students will experience engineering as they design and build accurate and precise catapults and slingshots. Exploring physics by attempting to send ping pong balls through various targets

PM Workshop: Pour Painting  $11 supply fee

Acrylic pour painting is created by mixing a pouring medium with acrylic paints and letting the mixture flow over the canvas. It’s a fun easy way to create one-of-a-kind works of art.  Even if you have never painted before and don’t consider yourself an artist this technique is something anyone can do
