Middle School Writing Project is an interactive writing enrichment program for diverse 6th, 7th and 8th grade students from Canaan, Cornwall, Danbury, Litchfield, Salisbury, Thomaston, WAMOGO, Waterbury, and Region 14.  Students meet together once per month during the academic year to improve their writing skills and confidence in writing.

Students participate in three writing workshops each program day.  Workshops are led by published authors who share their talents and professional experience.  Students practice real life writing strategies taught by the authors who used them in their craft every day.  These professionals serve as powerful role models and provide meaningful insight about writing as a career option. Program lessons immerse students in a variety of genres through collaborative writing activities and group writing workshops.  Students also have time to share their work aloud in front of the whole group during Writers Read sessions at the end of each day.  In sharing, students build public speaking skills and confidence in front of a crowd.

Middle School Writing Project fosters academic confidence and enthusiasm for writing, and inspires and guides students from blank page to writing success!
