EdAdvance BASES Program Honored as a 2024 Engage Every Student Recognition Program Champion

Litchfield, CT – June 17th, 2024 — EdAdvance, a leading provider of educational services in Connecticut, is proud to announce that its Before and After School Extended Services (BASES) has been named a 2024 Engage Every Student (EES) Recognition Program Champion. This prestigious accolade recognizes the BASES program's commitment to enhancing statewide access to high-quality after-school and summer learning opportunities.

The EES Recognition Program, initiated by U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona and supported by partners such as the After School Alliance, AASA, the School Superintendents Association, National League of Cities, National Summer Learning Association, and the National Comprehensive Center, aims to connect schools and communities with the resources necessary to broaden educational opportunities after school and during the summer months.

EdAdvance's BASES program was selected from 57 nominations across 29 states, standing out as one of only 13 non-profit organizations and city municipalities recognized for their exemplary contributions. "We are honored to be acknowledged in the inaugural year of this program," said Tracey Lay, Chief Talent and Development Officer at EdAdvance. "This recognition reaffirms our dedication to enhancing positive outcomes and providing crucial support to all our students."

The BASES program has demonstrated significant growth and excellence by:

  • Employing evidence-based educational strategies, including the use of certified teachers for academic instruction and tutoring.

  • Increasing enrollment by over 20% from the 2022-23 to the 2023-24 school year.

  • Serving a student population where at least 40% qualify for the free and reduced lunch program.

  • Utilizing funding from the American Rescue Plan and other state and local resources to make afterschool and summer learning programs more accessible.

"This year’s Engage Every Student Champions are leading the charge in their local communities and states to ensure that all students nationwide have the opportunity to thrive, learn, and grow through their engagement in high-quality afterschool and summer learning programs,” Secretary Cardona remarked.

The recognition as a 2024 EES Champion not only celebrates the achievements of EdAdvance’s BASES program but also sets a standard for educational excellence and community involvement. "This acknowledgment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and community partners. We are committed to continuing our efforts to engage every student and ensure they have access to enriching out-of-school time experiences," said Sarah Moran, Director of BASES at EdAdvance. EdAdvance remains committed to fostering environments where every student can succeed and looks forward to continuing its impactful work in the community.
