October 4, 2024 — EdAdvance is pleased to announce the grand opening of its brand-new Early Childhood Center in Torrington, CT. Jonathan Costa, the Executive Director of EdAdvance, was the host of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on Thursday, October 3rd, which celebrated a significant milestone in advancing early childhood education and expanding family support services for the northwestern Connecticut region. The new Early Childhood Center represents an important step forward in providing vital resources and support for children, families, and educators in Connecticut.
This state-of-the-art facility spans over 25,000 square feet, offering a range of services and programs that foster child development, support families, and provide professional development for early childhood educators across the region. The center features over 13 modern classrooms designed for children ages 0-8, including those enrolled in EdAdvance Head Start Prenatal to Five programs. The facility will also offer flexible meeting spaces, with the capacity to support up to 100 individuals in multi-use rooms.
“The opening of this center showcases our dedication to supporting all aspects of early childhood while providing space for high-quality early childhood education, essential services, and valuable resources for both children and their families,” said Michelle Anderson, Director of Early Childhood & Family Programs. “Our goal is to create an inclusive, supportive environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive. This center will also serve as a community hub, offering critical services like home visitation programs, child development screenings, and parenting support, all under one roof.”
The EdAdvance Early Childhood Center is designed not only to be a place for structured learning but also a resource center for families and educators alike. The facility will serve as a hub for Birth to Three services, parenting workshops, family literacy programs in partnership with EdAdvance Adult Education, and offer flexible hours to accommodate diverse family schedules. The center will also provide meeting spaces for families seeking support services.
Carmella Galipault, Director of EdAdvance Head Start Prenatal to Five, shared her excitement for the new center: “This facility allows us to expand our reach and enhance the quality of care and education we provide. We are proud to continue creating opportunities for young learners to succeed while ensuring that families are supported every step of the way.”
In addition to its educational services, the center will also serve as a hub for professional development. Educators and providers from across northwestern Connecticut will have access to training, workshops, and resources that will enhance their ability to provide high-quality early childhood education. The new facility reflects EdAdvance’s commitment to the power of early childhood education in building a foundation for lifelong success.
